COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, by Section 203 of the Flood Control Act
of 1954, the Congress of the United States adopted and
authorized a Federal project for flood protection on the
Wailoa Stream and its tributaries, Island of Hawaii,
Territory of Hawaii, substantially in accordance with
the recommendations of the Chief of Engineers, in House
Document No. 529, 81st Congress, 2d Session; and
WHEREAS, during the preparation of the survey report
on the project in 1941, the Board of Supervisors, County
of Hawaii, gave its assurances of local cooperation in
said project; and
WHEREAS, the completion of:said project is vitally
necessary for the protection of life and property of the
citizens in the areas affected by said project; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors, County of Hawaii,
by resolution dated February 6, 1957 resolved that it
will provide the requirements of local cooperation necessary
to the project; and
WHEREAS, no funds have been provided by Congress to
prepare the definite project plans since the project was
authorized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Hawaii that the Honorable
Delegate to Congress, John A. Burns be and he is hereby
respectfully requested to exercise the good powers of his
office to have appropriated funds for definite project
f plans and for actual construction as soon as possible.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be
and he is hereby authorized and directed to forward a
copy of this Resolution to the Honorable John A. Burns,
Delegateto Congress from Hawaii.
