Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 33-99, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 33-99, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 127, dated January 25, 1999, authorizes the Mayor to enter into amulti-yeaz lease agreement
for nine copy machines.
The Hawaii County Police Department wishes to enter into afive-year lease with the option to
purchase for nine copy machines to be placed at each station (North Hilo, Hamakua, Waimea,
Kohala, Ka'u, Keaau, Pahoa), the Criminal Investigation Division, and the Kona Driver
Licensing Office.
Presently, the aging equipment has cause many lost man hours due to machine malfunction. The
acquisition of new machines will reduce downtime, thereby improving productivity and
efficiency.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 33-99
and recommends its adoption.
