WHEREAS, Kahaluu Park, North Kona, County and Territory of Hawaii, has been developed by the County of Hawaii as a County Park, at the cost of over $25,000.00 since 1954, serving hundreds of people yearly; and WHEREAS, said Kahaluu Park is one of the few safe swimming areas in Kona today; and WHEREAS, said Kahaluu Park is a great tourist attraction together with the many surrounding historical sites; and WHEREAS, the proposed small boat harbor with its attendant congestion at said Kahaluu Park would undoubtedly ruin said park as a swimming area, detract from its attractiveness as a tourist site, erradicate many treasured historical remnants, and render almost valueless the sizeable monetary outlays of the County of Hawaii in its development of Kahaluu Park as a public park, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the BOARD OF HARBOR COMMISSIONERS and the TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE be and are hereby requested not to consider Kahaluu Park as the site for a small boat harbor in-Kona. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Board of Harbor Commissioners and to the Members of the Twenty-Ninth Legislature.
