COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO.
REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE OF THE TERRITORY OF HAWAII TO
APPROPRIATE SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO PAY THE ENTIRE COSTS OF
MEDICAL CARE FOR THE INDIGENT AND MEDICALLY INDIGENT
PERSONS.
WHEREAS,.under the provisions of Act 129, Session
Laws of Hawaii 1951, it is the responsibility of the
Territory to pay the costs of medical care for the
indigent and medically indigent persons in the Territory
of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, inspite of the provisions of said Act 129
the County of Hawaii has been forced to bear a large
portion of the costs of medical care because the funds
appropriated to carry out the provisions of the Act have
not been sufficient to meet all the needs of the program;
and
WHEREAS, if the County of Hawaii has to meet the,
deficiency out of its own funds, it shall be compelled
to curtail its other services to the public,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of
Supervisors in and for the County of Hawaii that the
Honorable Senators and Representatives from the Island
of Hawaii to the Twenty-Ninth Legislature of the Territory
of Hawaii, now assembled at Iolani Palace, Honolulu, Oahu,
be hereby respectfully requested to exercise the good
powers of their office to secure the passage of legislation
whereby sufficient funds shall be appropriated to pay all
the costs of medical care for the indigent and medically
indigent persons in the County an Territory of Hawaii.
