HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 091 Draft 01 1957 COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. it WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department and the County of Hawaii are very anxious to accept the proposals made by the nationally famous Traffic Institute of Northwestern University to conduct a four-week Traffic Safety training school to be held at the Hale Nan! Police Academy here in the city of Hilo, some time during the month of October of this year, fol.lowi.ng the conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police which is being held in Honolulu in late September and early October of this year; and WHEREAS, this will be the first time in the history of the Territory that a traffic safety training school of such high standards will be held, and the proximity of which will enable police personnel from all districts of the County and the Territory to attend and be trained; and WHEREAS, the safety and well-being of our citizenry depends to a large extent upon the efficiency and integrity of our law enforcement officers; and WHEREAS, the proper training of our law enforcement officers in such interrelated fields, such as traffic law enforcement, traffic accidents and investigations, and traffic personnel and management, will not only be of tremendous benefit to our citizenry but to our County and the Territory of Hawaii as well; and ~..-rvlU WHEREAS, the Traffic Institute of Northwestern University is equally desirous of providing us with highly qualified instructors to conduct said traffic school. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Members of the Board of Supervisors in and for the County of Hawaii that the Honorable Samuel Wilder King, Governor of the Territory of Hawaii, be and is hereby respectfully requested to exercise the good powers of his office to secure and provide the sum of $5,650.00, out of the Hilo Shipperst Wharf Fund with which to finance this worthy undertaking.
