Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 212, reports as follows:
Communication No. 212, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated March 23, 1999,
nominates Mrs. Phoebe M Lambeth of Council District 1 to the Hawaii County Police
Commission.
A 44-year resident of Hawaii, Mrs. Lambeth has been with the Hilo Medical Center, and
presently serves as the Assistant Administrator. She is also involved in numerous community
organizations. Mrs. Lambeth will replace Mr. Clarence Souza of Council District 1 whose term
expired on December 31, 1998. A member of the Republican Party, she will serve a term to end
December 31, 2003.
Pursuant to Section 7-2.2, Hawaii County Charter, the Police Commission shall consist of seven
members...appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council in the manner prescribed in
Section 13-4.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of Mrs. Phoebe M. Lambeth to the
Hawaii County Police Commission.
