RESOLUTION NO.
V
REWESTING CONSTRUCTION OF ADEQUATE SHORESIDE FACILITIES
AT KAWAIHAE HARBOR, COUNTY AND TERRITORY OF HAWAII,
WHEREAS, Act 95, Session Laws of Hawaii 1947, and
i Act 135, Session Laws. of Hawaii 1953, authorize the.
board of harbor commissioners to issue revenue bonds in
the sum of $1,200,000,00 for the purpose of constructing
an-overseas terminal and shoreside. facilities at Kawaihae
Harbor, County and Territory of Hawaii in the event the
United States Engineer Department approves and agrees to
cooperate in the development of Kawaihae Harbor; and
WHEREAS, the United States Engineer Department has
approved the Kawaihae Harbor.project and about $4,000,000,00
of federal money-is being spent to develop Kawaihae Harbor
into a deep water harbor; and
WHEREAS, plans have already been drafted and
submitted by.the chief engineer of the board of harbor
commissioners for the construction of shoreside facilities
in conjunction with the Kawaihae Harbor development
project; and
WHEREAS, numerous individuals and firms have
indicated keen interest in utilizing the•shoreside
facilities when the harbor is opened to.shipping,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the board of
supervisors of the county of Hawaii that the honorable
members.of the. board of harbor commissioners be and they
are hereby respectfully requested to use the powers of
their good office to construct adequate shoreside
facilities at Kawaihae Harbor to meet the needs of the

BE IT FURTHER RESOI:VED that the county clerk be
and_ he is hereby authorized and directed to forward a
copy of this resolution to each of the honorable members
of the board of harbor commissioners.
