Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 117-99, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 117-99, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 104 by Finance Director Harry
Takahashi, via Communication No. 371, dated July 1, 1999, authorizes the County of Hawaii to
enter into an agreement wit the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism
(DBEDT).
Pursuant to Act 182, SLH 1992, the DBEDT received funding for the implementation of a
statewide energy emergency-planning project. The project has been completed, and the balance
of the project funds is to be disbursed to the various counties. The various counties are to use the
funds for the purpose of supporting energy emergency preparedness activities to protect and
safeguard the lives and property of the public.
Hawaii County's share of the funds is $8,449.00 plus 3% simple interest. The total sum to be
transferred including interest is $9,843.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 117-99
and recommends its adoption.
