Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 108, reports as follows:
Bill No. 108, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 378, dated
July 9, 1999, amends Ordinance No. 99-71, as amended, the Capital Budget ending
June 30, 2000, by adding the following project:
PARKS AND RECREATION
110-699-5699.16-115 Repairs to Facilities $500,000
Funds for this project shall be provided from:
General Obligation Bonds, Capital Projects Fund, Fund Balance and/or Other Sources $500,000
Funds are needed for repairs to facilities, upgrading of basic infrastructure, upgrading of playground
sites, etc. to meet current safety codes and to eliminate safety hazards.
Some members of Your Committee felt further information was necessary prior to final reading of
this measure. Additional information requested from the Department of Parks and Recreation were
photos of all the playgrounds (37) in need of repair, a breakdown by Council District as to how
these funds will be expended, and an explanation of the process used by the department to prioritize
such projects.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 108 and
recommends it pass first reading.
