WHEREAS, the UnitedStatesofAmerip~; through the State Department
of Human Services, Office of Youth Services, is desirous of developing a
community-based delinqtienc;y preventiollprogramin Ka'u; and
, WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Department of Human Services, Office of
Youth Services is prepared to provide funding to the County of Hawaii,
Department of Parks and Recreation, through federal funds from Title VJuvenile ,',
Delinquency Prevention; and ' , ,

" WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation is
ready and willing'to develop the "Kokua Ka'u Project" through Ka'u Learning
Center, umbrella for The Ka'u Council; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 46-Tofthe Hawaii Revised Statutes, the
Council of the County of Hawaii ,may ~nter into agreements with the federal
government or any other public bodyorbodi~s respecting action to be taken
pursuant to any of the powersgrant~d to it by law and furnisp, expend, and
receive any funds in connection' with projects to be undertaken;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED. BY THE 'COUNCIL OF THE
