A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE
HAWAII RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION TO PROVIDE A SUMMER FUN SCHOLARSmp
PROGRAM IN THE HAMAKUA AND KA'U DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, theWeinburg Foundation has provided a grant to the Hawaii Recreation and Park Association to
serve needy and disadvantaged children; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Recreation and Park Association has donated Two Thousand Dollars of the grant, to the
Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a Summer Fun Scholarship Program for needy and disadvantaged
children in the Hamakua and Ka'u Districts. .
WHEREAS, ArticleXIII, Section 13-12 of the lIawaii County Charter provides .that the Council, on behalf of the
County, may. accept gifts of donations of money;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and
Recreation is authorized to accept the donation of Two Thousand Dollars from the Hawaii Recreation and Park
Association to provide a Summer f:un Scholarships for needy and disadvantaged children in Hamakua and Ka'u.
BE IT FURTHERRESOL VED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this Resolution to
George Yoshida, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Sam Lankford, Ph.D., Hawaii Recreation and Park Association
President, at P.O. Box 22214, Honolulu, Hawaii 96823-2214.
