RE: Proposed Housekeeping Amendment to Bill 210
RODNEY OSHIRO
Deputy County Clerk
C.)
During the processing of Bill 210 (relating to emergency water spigots), the following words were
inadvertently omitted from the end of the definition of "Impending disaster" as provided in section 7 -6
of the Hawai'i County Code:
"inhabitants of the area should evacuate from the threatened area."
This language is currently provided in the Hawai`i County Code, thus I request the council or its
committee amend the definition of "Impending disaster" as provided in Bill 210 to its current form,
which reads as follows (material to be added is underscored):
'Impending disaster" means any situation where a catastrophe threatens an inhabited
area and the civil defense agency has issued a warning that the inhabitants of the area
should evacuate from the threatened area."
As this is a housekeeping matter and does not substantially change the bill or its purpose, no
draft copy of Bill 210, Draft 2, is attached.
l'hank you for your consideration of this matter.
