I apologize for this late commentary, being at a second reading, but I think some minor word changes should be included to clarify this bill. a) regarding the use of the word "drawbar,” this should be clarified to be related to "tow bar" used elsewhere in this bill. A word should be added indicating the "...gross weight of the "towed" vehicle.." to indicate which vehicles' weight is considered. In actuality, it should be the weight of the heavier vehicle, whether the towing or towed vehicle. b) In addition to the use of tow bar, "or other connection" should be added for consistency with part "a." Other connection is commonly a towing strap available in many automotive stores. I note that chain is addressed to allow a cable to be used. c) For vehicles greater than 10,000 pounds, reference is made to an exemption for airbrakes. A word should he added that these airbrakes "are fully operational and in use." Many trailers are towed short distances without functional airbrakes' Mahalo, Michael Reimer GeoMikeh @att.net February 12, 2010 1 Comex Ref. Tot Ref. Date
