Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members,
The Department of Environmental Management would like to submit a revised Project Data/Financial
Impact Statement for the North Kona Sewer project for the Council's information as it relates to Bill No.
214.
We would like to clarify that Bill No. 214 is a request to re- appropriate Phase 1 of the North Kona Sewer
project which includes the design and construction of sewer infrastructure between Kealakehe Parkway
and Hina Lani Street and a portion of the dual sewer force main to Kealakehe Parkway. This phase of the
project will be done in conjunction with the State Department of Transportation's Queen Ka`ahumanu
Highway Widening Project which is expected to be awarded in March 2010. A State Revolving Fund
loan has been secured for this project but due to delays in awarding the contract, the previous
appropriation lapsed.
