A RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 27-YEAR SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY OF
HUALIEN, TAIWAN, REPUBLIC OF CHINA AND THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, on September 22,1971, over 27 years ago, the City ofHualien, Taiwan, Republic Of China
and the County of Hawaii established a Sister City relationship by officially signing the Sister City agreement, and
WHEREAS, such a Sister City program has benefited the pebple of the affiliated cities through the
exchange of cultural exhibits, educational programs and other matters of common interest; and
WHEREAS, as part of the cultural exchange, the Hualien County Government will sponsor a dance
performance by the Hualien Teachers' Dance Troupe at the University of Hawaii at Hilo Theater on August 12,
1998.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAW All that it
recognizes, congratulates and celebrates the 27-year international partnership between City of Hualien, Taiwan
and the County of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Hawaii reafftrms its Sister City relationship with City
of Hualien, Taiwan, Republic of China and its commitment to each other. .
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Mayor of the City of
Hualien, Taiwan, Republic of China and the Hualien Teachers' Dance Troupe.
