SUBJECT: Minimum Property Tax
I am a long time resident of Hilo and owner of several properties on the Big Island. I am
requesting your support of a measure recently introduced by Kurt Tyler re: a minimum property
tax.
I own a vacant lot in Hawaiian Paradise Park which is located on an unpaved, dirUrock road. As
the property owner I still receive County services: fire, rescue, civil defense, etc. and these are of
value to me.
Big Island property owners share in the services the County provides, no matter where they live.
We should also share in the cost of those services. Each and every property owner should be
required to pay at least $100 every year in property taxes. Please support this measure.
