HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 315 Draft 01 2008-2010COUNTY OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 315 10 STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, FOR THE SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND PLANNING PROJECT GRANT WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Health's Maternal & Child Health Branch has authorized funding to the Hawaii Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the Sexual Violence Prevention and Planning Project Grant; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney participated in the development of the statewide Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Plan and is now receiving funding to build capacity and prepare Hawai'i County for its implementation: and WHEREAS, these monies, derived from the Federal funds, will support Area Strategic Work Groups sessions, capacity building workshops, and participation in the Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Implementation Committee and facilitator training on Oahu; and WHEREAS, the project will be coordinated by the Community Violence Response Coordinator; and WHEREAS, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 46 -7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance with section 46 -7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and any related documents with the State of Hawaii Department of Health, to enable the County to prepare for the implementation of the Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Plan as described in the project's scope of services, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A ". . If any specified activity cannot be performed due to unavoidable factors, a similar activity may be substituted by permission of DOH. Amount 1. Convene three meetings of the Hawaii County Stakeholder $5,400.00 Committee to work on capacity building and preparation for implementation of the SVPP Plan, coordinating with statewide implementation, at $1,800 per meeting. Provide the committee and DOH with meeting notes. Expand committee to include key members from groups identified in SVPP Plan strategies and activities 2. Convene three Topic Strategic Work Groups* on Hawaii to do capacity building and preparation for implementation. Conduct a minimum of three meetings per month, for three months, at $250 per meeting. Provide Work Groups and DOH with meeting notes. 3. Convene 5 Area Strategic Work Groups in [name location(s)] for a minimum of one meeting each, to work on capacity building and implementation preparation @ $250 per meeting. Provide Work Groups and DOH with meeting notes.[? Provide mileage to West Hawaii representative to Hawaii Island Stakeholder Committee meetings nl $# per meeting.] g] 4. Assist Hawaii Youth Services Network in organizing, promoting, and conducting a workshop in Hilo in April 2010, featuring Men Can Stop Rape trainers 6.
