The earthquake that hit Chile on Friday, February 27 and caused a tsunami on the Island of
Hawaii on Saturday, February 28 was handled exceptionally well by Civil Defense and the other
administrative departments of the County of 1- lawai'i. and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
111 order to continue to improve our response to emergency events, the Council needs to receive a
report from the following departments on events that occurred and any issues that may need
improvement:
There will also be a discussion of emergency procedures for Council members in the event there
is an emergency council meeting called or any other emergency procedures.
Please agendizc this matter on March 16, 2010 on the Public Safety and Parks and Recreation
Committee since it is a Civil Defense issue.
