Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year
for two (2) copiers for the Office of Housing and Community Development. The leases
of their two copiers currently in use will be expiring soon and both machines have
exceeded their recommended usage and are constantly being repaired. Obtaining
leases on technically advanced copiers, which provide more features and options, will
increase staff productivity and will allow them to keep up with the increased demands
placed upon the offices.
It is anticipated that by leasing the new copiers, there will be a yearly savings of $5,000.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Office of Housing and
Community Development.

To enter into a multi -year lease agreement (five years) to replace two (2) copy machines at the following
locations:
50 Wailuku Drive, Hilo, HI; and
1990 Kino'ole Street, Suite 105, Hilo, HI
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The current lease agreements on the OHCD's copiers at 50 Wailuku Dr. and 1990 Kino'ole St. will be
expiring in June 2010 and September 2010, respectively. Both machines will have exceeded their
recommended usage and are constantly being repaired.
The anticipated usage for both machines should remain the same.
The new machines are technically advanced, having more features and options (i.e., scanning, connection to
the LAN, to serve as another printer) that will allow staff to increase their productivity. The expanded
capability will allow the office to keep up with increasing demands.
By leasing the two (2) copiers, we anticipate a yearly savings of $5,000.
