A. REQUEST:
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi -year lease agreement for three (3) 75 cubic yard
refuse trailers for a period of five (5) years for the Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste
Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Solid Waste Division is requesting to replace three (3) 1991 Brothers 75 Cubic Yard Refuse trailers.
These 1991 Brothers Trailers have high mileage and are incurring costly mechanical and structural repairs.
These trailers are used daily, hauling refuse from the transfer stations to either East or West Hawai'i's landfill.
Daily use of the trailer's blade and hydraulic pistons to compact the refuse have become worn.
Refuse trailers must be maintained in operable condition to manage the solid waste, to maintain compliance
with State and Federal regulations governing solid waste management and be in compliance with safe
highway operations as mandated by law.
This equipment will be lease financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of the five year
lease.
