RESOLUTION SUPPORTINQ t,\NI>ADOPTING THE REAL ESTATE ACQUISITION
GUIDELINE OF.THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CQUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, the County Council of the County of Hawaii has the authority pursuant to
Chapter 101, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to condemn property for public purposes; and
. .
WHEREAS, condemnation is.a very traumatic. experience for many property oWners; and
WHEREAS, the Council has recognized that notification of a pending condemnation
would' help relieve the anxiety that these property owners face; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of this problem, the Department of Public Works has
established a real estate acquisition guideline to formalize the notification procedures; and
WHEREAS, the Council is satisfied.that this acquisition guide satisfies the Council's
concerns about notification.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it supports the real estate acquisition guideline of the Department of Public Works
and requests that it be used by the County in all real estate acquisitions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be provided to the
Department of Public Works, Department of Finance, Department of Parks and Recreation and
the Department of Water Supply.
