Re: Comm. No. 698 /Bill No. 205
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 205, reports as follows:
Bill No. 205, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 300 -10 by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford,
via Communication No. 698, dated February 3, 2010, amends Ordinance No. 09 -64, as amended, the
Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2010. The amendment is as follows:

The County of Hawai`i has been selected as a pilot site to implement a computer system interface to
electronically forward juvenile arrest data from the Hawai`i Police Department's Records
Management System (RMS) to the Prosecuting Attorney's Hawai`i Island Tracking System (HITS).
This will eliminate double entry of information and improve efficiency. The JJIS serves as a data
repository for juvenile offender information for the Sate of Hawaii. Up to $25,000 of Federal grant
funds will be provided from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for this
program
Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, and Section 13- 13(b), Hawaii County Charter,
the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the NG JJIS Data
Broker Project.
Hawai`i County Prosecuting Attorney Jay Kimura was present to answer any Council Members
questions.
