Re: Comm. No. 699 /Bill No. 206
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 206, reports as follows:
Bill No. 206, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 699,
dated February 2, 2010, amends Ordinance No. 09 -64, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending
June 30, 2010. The amendment is as follows:
3301.54 Housing Voucher Program — Housing $2,741,000

152.461.5466.30 Voucher Rental Subsidies Housing $2,741,000
TOTAL $2,741,000
The U.S. Department of Housing and Community Development has updated the allocation for the
period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 for the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program.
This increase in appropriation will be used for payment of rental assistance for eligible program
participants.
Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, and Section 13- 13(b), Hawaii County
Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the Office
of Housing and Community Development.
Sharon Hirota from the Office of Housing and Community Development said these funds are an
addition to the existing budget and will allow the department to clear some of the backlog on the
waiting list.
