COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 694
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 694, reports as follows:
Communication No. 694, transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 4, 2010, nominates
Mr. Albert Kualii of Council District 5 to serve on the County of Hawai`i Tax Board of Review.
A 26 -year resident of Hawai`i, Mr. Albert Kualii retired in 1991 as the Consignment Auditor
with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. His community service includes membership with
the Nanawale Community Association (NCA) Board of Directors and the NCA Neighborhood
Watch. He also volunteers with the County of Hawai`i's Retired Senior Volunteer Program
(RSVP). Of no political party affiliation, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2015.
Pursuant to Section 19 -96, Hawai`i County Code, there is created a Tax Board of Review for the
county which shall consist of five members...appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the
council as provided by Charter.
Deputy Corporation Counsel Craig Masuda and several Council Members spoke in support of
Mr. Albert Kualii's appointment and thanked him for volunteering his time.
Council Member Onishi advised Mr. Kualii that he did not need to appear before the full council
for confirmation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. Albert Kualii to the County of
Hawai`i Tax Board of Review.
