RESOLUTION'
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,PURSUANTTO HRS .46-7, GANG PREVENTION.-KONA GRANT.
WHEREAS, the United States of Amer'ica through the State Department of Human
Services Office of Youth Services, is desirous of providing funding to monH:or gang
activities within the County of Hawaiiandassis~ the State in the. coordination of
intelligence and law enforcement, sharing of inf 0 rmati Oil , training and community
awareness, community and school-based iilterventionand prevention programs, and
evaluation and research; and .
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing
to proceed with its obligations under the. Gang Prevention Grant;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 46:-7 of the.Hawaii Revised Statutes, the
Federal government may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii
providing the expenditures or receipt of funds for other assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF.THE COUNTY OF'HAWAlIthat
the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is .hereby authorized and designated to sign in the
name of the County Project Number DHS-98-0YS~6097, which will. effectuate these.
purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward
cop~es of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro, the Chief of Police, and any other
interested governmental agencies.
