Subject: Resolution 308 -10
Dear Council Members:
I am writing to ask you to support the DAR Amendment package that is being presented for a vote on
March 16 Ka'ohc Bay (a.k.a. Pebble Beach) is one of only a handful of accessible beaches and reef
systems in South Kona. The beach and bay are host to many local families as well as visitors to our
island. The reef ecosystem is particularly enjoyed by swimmers. snorkelers and divers. Commercial
collectors in the bay are devastating the fragile balance of the reef system. Approximately one third of
the reef fish are endemic to Hawaii and deserve your protection..
The Friends of Pebble Beach has ‘vorked closely with the West Hawaii Fisheries Council for six ■ ears
to resolve the User Conflict problem. This Resolution is a positive step. Please support Resolution 308-
10.
Sincerely,
Eva Hillman and Jeff Ivershe
