Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have nominated the following individuals to the
County of Hawaii Cost of Government Commission:
Council District 2 — Glen Matsuda is a 58 -year resident of Hawai'i. Since 1975, he has
been employed as the Auditor -V Supervisor with the Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations Unemployment Insurance Division. Mr. Matsuda serves as a member of the
Hawai'i State District 50 Lions — Budget/Finance Committee and was a former member
of the Hawai'i County Fire Commission. Mr. Matsuda states that he is a Democrat. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to end eleven months after confirmation.

Council District 4 — Gloria Wong is a 57 -year resident of Hawai'l. Ms. Wong is a
self - employed business consultant and a freelance writer. She is a former member of
the Hawai'i County Board of Appeals. Ms. Wong states that she is a Democrat. If
confirmed, she will serve a term to end eleven months after confirmation.
Council District 6 — Marilyn Nicholson is a 35 -year resident of Hawai'i. In 2007, she
retired as the Executive Director for the Volcano Art Center. Ms. Nicholson serves as a
member of the Friends of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. She recently completed her
term as a member of the County of Hawai'i Board of Ethics and was a former member
of the Hawai'i County Cost of Government Commission. Ms Nicholson states that she
is a Democrat. If confirmed, she will serve a term to end eleven months after
confirmation.

Council District 9 — Patricia Provalenko is a 25 -year resident of Hawai'i.
Ms. Provalenko currently is the President and Property Manager of PATDI, Inc She is
a member of the Hawai'i Island Economic Development Board and the Parker School
Trust Corporation. Ms. Provalenko also served as a former member of the Hawai'i
County Cost of Government Commission. Ms. Provalenko states that she is not
affiliated with any political party. If confirmed she will serve a term to end eleven
months after confirmation.
