RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, THROUGH ITS
DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT FOR NON-BID PURCHASE OF GOODS AND SERVICES WITH THE
DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND TOURISM (DB EDT}
WHEREAS, pursuant to Hawaii Revised statutes, S~ction 201A,the State of Hawaii,
through its Department of Business, EconomicDevelopment, and Tourism (DBEDT), may
contract with qualified private and public agencies, associations, firms~ or individuals within or
without the State in pursuance of its duties andfunctioris; and
WHEREAS, funding is made available to DBEDT pursuant to Act 328, SLH 1997; and
WHEREAS. DBEDT desires to provide the County of Hawaii with such funding for
promotion of film and television production on the Big Island of Hawaii, providing County
resource services to production companies and promoting the Big Island of Hawaii as a viable
destination for filmmakers; .
WHEREAS, Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, requires that County departments
obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state govemements
respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers. granted by law to furnish, expend,
and received any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken
pursuant to those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HA W All, that the County of Hawaii, through its Department of Research and Development, is
authorized to enter into an Agreement for Non-Bid Purchase of Goods and Services with the
Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to
sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Department of
Research and Development and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the County Charter.
