You all have an impossible job during these very difficult economic times I understand that cuts must be made and that it is not possible to please everyone. Jobs will be lost, causing people to scramble even more than they do now to make ends meet, and we must all join together to "tighten our belts ". However, I do hope you will reconsider the decision to "un- fund" one of our oldest and most time - honored organizations that has brought music and joy to the residents and tourists of this island for over 125 years. With a relatively small annual budget in comparison to the joy it brings, the County Band, in my opinion, is truly money well spent. During times like these, there are things that help us to forget, to rise above, to experience something greater than our everyday problems and struggles. The Big Island, in its unique way, offers so many of these inspirations in the form of nature, art and the individual people it attracts who come here to experience and share. Music is an integral part of this offering, and the County Band is one of our most important Ambassadors. Thank you very much for your consideration, and good luck with the difficult task you have before you. Sincerely, Jennifer Tiboris 3/4/2010 Page 1 of 1 Comm. No. Ref. Toi L.r Ref. Data MAR 2 2 2210 0
