No. Ref. To: Ref. Date Page 1 of 1 Aloha! I am grateful for this additional opportunity to stress again my support for the Hawaii County Band and to urge you all once more to consider very carefully what the band's real value is to Hawaii County. There is no price that can equal what the band has contributed to this County's historic and cultural history. Since its founding in 1883, thousands of people - residents and visitors alike - have been the benefactors of what the County Band has provided for 127 years. Hundreds of descendants of Jules and Joaquin Carvalho, the founding brothers of the band, and of their sister Margareda and brother Virginio have always taken immense pride in knowing that their ancestors made such a tremendous contribution to the betterment of life on the Big Island. From its humble beginnings, the County Band has blossomed into a superior musical organization the likes of which are rarely found in other municipalities. To now discard it as a non - essential burden on the County's budget would be to ignore that continuing contribution. The County Band is an entity of which all residents of this county can be proud. I sincerely hope you all share in that pride and will do whatever is necessary to preserve this valuable living treasure. Mahelo! Urban F.
