How can this happen? One of the unique things about the Big Island is its dedication to the ARTS, its CULTURE and its TRADITION. The Hawaii County Band IS all of these things. Eliminating the County Band will not solve the Hawaii County's Budget problems and is only 1.25% of the P & R Budget. Does that sound fair? But what it will do is to take away a part of Big Islands uniqueness in its arts, culture and tradition. Remember the County Band begain back in 1883 - that's 127 years. The Hawaii County Band is an Institution that "GIVES BACK" to the community. Its members are dedicated to their craft and are always willing to share their time and energy to educate our future leaders - OUR CHILDREN. They are Character Builders. We need the County Band. I humbly ask that you reconsider your intent to defund the Hawaii County Band. Mahalo, Annette Kaga 3/4/2010 Coma. No. 1 ( Ref. Toe cotme .0 1 Ref. Dote BAR 2 2 2010 I'
