Subject: Save the Band
To Whom It May Concern,
I understand that money is very short in Hilo, however I believe that the Band is not something that
should be shut down due to lack of funding. As a middle school student at Keaau I took up band, which
was taught by a county band member. Practicing for band kept me out of trouble and helped me to
control my temper by giving me a way to vent my stress by practicing to relax. As I watched many of
my peers give in to peer pressure, I understood that if I chose the paths that my peers were choosing, I
would end up no where. The band is a very important part of our community and I beg you to continue
to fund the band. These people are brilliant individuals who do the community a lot of good.
