RESOLUTION NO. 323 10
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF OCEAN SAFETY
EQUIPMENT FOR THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation has donated ocean safety equipment,
consisting of four (4) Zoll Automated External Defibrillators, six (6) Surftech rescue surfboards, nine (9)
Recreonics megaphones, and six (6) Nikon binoculars to the Hawai'i Fire Department's Ocean Safety
Division; and
WHEREAS, these donated items, with a total value of $13,792.63, will facilitate the delivery of
safety services, preventive actions, and basic emergency life support by the Hawai'i Fire Department's
water safety officers; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai'i Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, the Council of the County of
Hawai'i accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to
Ms. Laura Mallery- Sayre, Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 1285, Kailua -Kona, Hawaii
96745, acknowledging this generous donation.
