SUBJECT: Resolution Recognizing May 1, 2010, as Law Day and May 2 -8, 2010, as
Law Week in the County of Hawai`i
In 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaimed May 1, 1958, to be Law Day in the
United States of America and since then, a Presidential Proclamation has been issued every
year recognizing May 1 as Law Day.
The Hawai`i State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division, the West Hawai`i Bar
Association, and the Hawaii County Bar Association are committed to honoring the
traditions of Law Day by planning a week of law- related events known as "Law Week."
Attached is a proposed resolution recognizing May 1, 2010, as Law Day and May 2 -8, 2010,
as Law Week in the County of Hawaii.
Due to the short time frame, I would like to have this matter waived from Committee and
placed on the next scheduled Council meeting agenda.

RE: Resolution No. 325 -10 : Resolution Recognizing May 1, 2010, as Law Day and
May 2 -8, 2010, as Law Week in the County of Hawai`i
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Human Services and Economic Development Committee to the full Council for
immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore
advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for
review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the
matter shall be referred to the Human Services and Economic Development Committee for
placement on its future agenda.
Sincerely,
