Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 733, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 733, transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated March 2, 2010, submits for
confirmation the appointments of Mr. Shane Kitchens, Ms. Nancy E. Burns, Ms. Ann Peterson,
Mr. Eugene Power, and Mr. Stephen J. Herbert to the County of Hawai`i Kailua Village Design
Commission.
All nominees were present. Brenda Ford asked the nominees to explain why they want to be on
the Commission. The nominees stated that the historical value of Kailua Village needs to be
preserved. Mr. Power further stated that he wanted to preserve the trees.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with Mayor Kenoi's nominations and recommends
confirmation of the appointments of Mr. Shane Kitchens, Ms. Nancy E. Burns, Ms. Ann
Peterson, Mr. Eugene Power, and Mr. Stephen J. Herbert to the County of Hawai`i Kailua
Village Design Commission. Nominees' presence was waived from Council.
