It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Rodney Watanabe of Council District 7 to the County
of Hawai'i Board of Appeals. Mr. Watanabe is a 56 -year resident of Hawai'i. He is
Executive Vice - President of Member Services for Hawai'i Community Federal Credit
Union (HCFCU).
Mr. Watanabe previously served as a commissioner on the County of Hawaii Salary
Commission and the County of Hawai'i Planning Commission. He is presently an
advisor with the Hawai'i HomeOwnership Center, and serves as a member on the
Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. Mr. Watanabe states that he is not affiliated with
any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2014,
replacing Mr. Joel Gimpel, whose term expired on December 31, 2009.
