COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 725
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 725, reports as follows:
Communication No. 725, transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 17, 2010, nominates
Mr. Arne T. Henricks of Council District 2 to serve on the County of Hawaii Board of Ethics.
A 52 -year resident of Hawai`i, Mr. Henricks retired in 2000 as a Per Diem Judge from the State
of Hawai`i Judiciary. Mr. Henricks states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, Mr. Henricks will replace Ms. Diane Gentry's vacancy, whose term expired on
December 31, 2009.
Deputy Corporation Counsel Renee Schoen and several Council Members spoke in support of
Mr. Henrick's appointment.
Council Member Onishi advised Mr. Henrick that he need not appear before the full Council for
confirmation.
Pursuant to Article XIV, Section 14 -5, Hawai`i County Charter, there shall be a Board of Ethics
appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with Mayor Kenoi's nomination and recommends the
confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Arne T. Henricks to the County of Hawai`i Board of
Ethics.
