Re: Request for Extension of Commission Report Deadline to April 13, 2010 — 0 )
Chair Yoshimoto and Members of the Hawai`i County Council,
The 2009 -2010 charter commission respectfully requests that the county council
extend the deadline for the commission to file its report to April 13, 2010. Hawaii
Revised Statutes § 50 -8 states that "within one year of its appointment, the charter
commission shall submit a report in writing on its activities, findings, and
recommendations to the legislative body of the county together with a draft of the
proposed charter." This would require the commission to file its report by March 13,
2010. Due to the workload of the commission, as well as its desire to thoroughly
consider each proposed amendment, the commission would like more time to complete
its work on the report to the county council.
I respectfully request that this matter be placed on February 3, 2010, council
agenda. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
