This is the only change proposed to CA -15.
Resolution Proposing Alternative Amendment to Charter Commission Proposal CA -15
Charter Commission Proposal CA -15 adds a section to article 10 of the Hawai`i County Charter that
would provide for a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund.
The current language provided in CA -15 does not allow for any of the fund money to be used for
maintenance and management of lands purchased through the fund.
The attached resolution provides an alternative for the consideration of the 2009 -2010 Charter
Commission that adds a new paragraph to subsection (c) of this proposal, as it relates to use of the
fund money.
"(3) Maintain and manage lands purchased by this fund. Ten percent of the annual fund
deposits shall be designated for such maintenance and management of the lands purchased
by this fund."
Please place the attached resolution on the May 5, 2010, agenda of the council.
