SUBJECT: A training session on parliamentary procedures including Robert's Rules of Order
for making a motion, seconding a motion, and the Chairperson's responsibility in
handling the motion before going to other issues or discussions.
1 request that the council members receive training from the County Clerk, Kenneth Goodenow,
on parliamentary procedures including the appropriate method of making a motion. seconding a
motion, the Chairperson's responsibility in handling such a motion and its second, and any
ensuing discussion following the motion and second based on the Council's Rules of Procedure
and Organization of the Council of the County of Hawai`i and Robert's Rules of Order Newly
Revised (10` Edition).
I request that this training item be placed on the County Council agenda on May 5, 2010. I
estimate 20 minutes for the training.
