Subject: Creation of an Ad Hoc Committee Relating to the International Energy
Conservation Code (IECC) 2006.
Pursuant to Council Rule No. 7 (AD HOC COMMITTEES), I would like to request that an ad
hoc committee be formed by the chair of the Hawai`i County Council. I request that the ad hoc
committee include at least two members of the council, and encourage participation from:
A representative from the County's Department of Public Works, chosen by the
Department of Public Works, and
Howard Wiig, Institutional Energy Analyst, State of Hawai`i Department of Business,
Economic Development and Tourism, and
No more than nine professionals of the architectural, building, and home inspection
industry, chosen by the ad hoc committee, and from as many County of Hawai`i districts
as possible.
I request that the scope of the Ad Hoc committee include:
- The commitment to hold at least two public meetings: one on the East side, and one on
the West side within four months of the formation of the ad hoc committee; and
The commitment to propose amendments to the Hawai`i County building code to the
council in relation with the IECC implementation within four months of the formation of
the ad hoc committee.
Please refer this matter to the appropriate council agenda.
