RESOLUTION NO. 3`33 10
A RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE THE MAYOR TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT FUNDING
FOR THE COUNTY BAND IN FISCAL YEAR 2010 -2011.
WHEREAS, the Coilnty Band has been a part of our culture for 127 years; and
WHEREAS, the County Band encompasses all of the individual cultures of which Hawai`
represents today; and
WHEREAS, losing the County Band ends an era, a tradition, a face that has reflected the soul of
Hawai`i's people; and
WHEREAS, this budgetary dilemma will not prevail; and
WHEREAS, life is not merely about essentials; and
, WHEREAS, life without art is not life at all; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it
encourages the Mayor to insure sufficient funding to keep the County Band playing for the future.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward copies of this resolution to
the Honorable Mayor William Kenoi, the Director of the Department of Finance, and the Director of the
Department of Parks and Recreation.
