Subject: Transmittal of a Bill for an Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 09 -48, as Amended,
Relating to the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
Please find attached a bill for an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 09 -48, as amended.
Ordinance 09 -48 amends the Building Code by adopting the 2006 IECC with amendments. The
effective date of Ordinance 09 -48, as amended, is currently June 15, 2010 and at that time it will be
incorporated into the Code.
The purpose of this ordinance is to amend some of the provisions of the 2006 IECC language as
provided in Ordinance 09 -48.
Due to the time - sensitive nature of these amendments, this matter will be waived from committee.
Please place on the May 19, 2010, council agenda.

RE: Bill No. 255 : A Bill for an Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 09 -48, as
Amended, Relating to the International Energy Conservation Code.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee to the full Council
for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore
advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for
review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the
matter shall be referred to the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee for
placement on its future agenda.
