No 308 -10 I am in support of Reso No. 308 -10 urging DLNR to adopt rules presented by the West Hawaii Fisheries Council regarding tropical fish collection. I am an avid scuba diver and I enjoy diving at Pebble Beach on a regular basis. It is a relatively small bay with some unique fish rarely seen elsewhere on our island Because this bay is small and shallow with an easy access it is frequented by aquarium collectors. When we go for a recreational dive we spend around 1 hour in the water but the aquarium fishers spend any where from 3 hours to 5 hours diving this bay at one time! In an hours time we can cuss cross this bay several times and go to all the places where we have seen our favorite fish, just think of the collector and how much ocean floor can be traversed in 5 hours time. I say we trade out the area at Keauhou, which is not frequented by recreational divers and save the fish at Pebble Beach for us to look at and photograph. I am also in support of this resolution because of the inclusion of a limited entry for aquarium fishing permits. I am happy that so much of our coastline is off limits to the AQ trade but I still feel like too many fish are being taken. In view of what happened last month with over 600 fish found in dumpster I believe it is time to restrict access to our precious marine creatures. Ultimately, I would like to see the aquarium fishing trade stopped in Hawai'i but right now I totally support limiting the number of permits issued. Thank you for your consideration Aloha- Rosanne Shank 78 -271 Manukai Street Kailua Kona, HI 96740 808 - 322 -2786 linglehshell @hotmail.com f support for Resolution No 308 -10.
