Subject: In Support of DAR Resolution 308 -10
Dear Council Members'
We are again writing to ask you to support the DAR Resolution 308 -10. Ka'ohe Bay (a.k.a. Pebble Beach) is
one of only a handful of accessible beaches and reef systems in South Kona. The beach and bay are host to
many local families as well as visitors to our island. The reef ecosystem is enjoyed by swimmers, snorkelers and
divers. Commercial collectors in the bay are devastating the fragile balance of the reef system. Approximately
one third of the reef fish are endemic to Hawai'i and deserve your protection..
The Friends of Pebble Beach has worked closely with the West Hawai'i Fisheries Council for six years to resolve
the User Conflict problem. This Resolution is a positive step. Please support Resolution 308 -10.
Sincerely,
Eva Hillman and Jeff Iverslie
