Dear Members of the Hawaii County Council:
Aloha and Good Morning! I am Wallace A. Ishibashi, Jr. and I am a Business Agent for the
ILWU Local 142, Hawaii Division as well as the Chairperson of the Big Island Labor Alliance
(B. I.L.A.).
I am here today to testify in favor of Bill 234 to allow more time to analyze the total
impact of the passage of Bill 385. While we are in favor of being more "green" and energy
efficient, this needs to be evaluated further (based on Hawaii's needs and standards)
based on the additional cost that places undue financial strain and hardship on the rubber
slipper public during these tough economic times.
Please allow more time to study the impact to the general public and the cost
effectiveness of Bill 385.
The implementation date of May 11, 2010 is too soon.
