Dear Council Chair Yoshimoto,
I am writing on behalf of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the Hawaii State Bar
Association to express our support for the resolution to recognize May 1, 2010 as Law
Day and May 2 -8, 2010 as Law Week in the County of Hawaii.
In honor of Law Week, the YLD has planned various activities, including an
extension of our Wednesday night Legal Line hotline for every weeknight of Law Week,
a pro bono rally in downtown Honolulu to showcase various pro bono organizations and
activities, and our island -wide legal clinics on May 8th from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. where
volunteer attorneys and paralegals hand out legal information to the public. On the
Island of Hawaii these clinics will be held at the Kona Coast Shopping Center and the
Puainako Center. The West Hawaii YLD is also offering to make presentations of our
Junior Judges program during the month of May in celebration of Law Week.
We appreciate your time and thank you for considering this resolution.
