10. PROJECT/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: 1. Install 2 crosswalks with pedestrian - controlled signal lights and appropriate street markings across Ali'i Drive. 2. Construct a parking lot to take
parked vehicles off of the makai side of AIi i Drive. 3. Repave approximately 500 feet of the street to make it ADA compliant for wheelchair and pedestrian traffic
11. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION & OUTCOME(S) (List all that apply): This section of AIri Drive has high traffic volume and speeding on a blind curve. Pedestrians and wheelchair users need to be
able to cross the Drive and traffic does not permit sufficient time for wheelchair users or allow sufficient line -of -sight to slow for pedestrians The project will increase safety, slow traffic, and
make a more walkable community in compliance with the Kona Community Development Plan. The parking lot will reduce the street parking on the makai side of AIi i Drive to improve the safe
of the pedestrian way
