Subject — Accepting U.S. Government funds to help clean up marijuana
This subject keeps coming up and sometimes it becomes routine and
some people forget how important this program is to our community.
People not involved in the schools or in police work may not clearly
see the whole picture.
Regardless of how diligently and how often some people try to picture
marijuana as an innocent substance it couldn't be further from the truth.
It is a big cash crop, but at what cost to our young people. Many valid
studies have proven the damage that can be caused by its continual use.
And yes, it is a gateway drug that was proven over and over again 40
years ago. I raised my children in California, the San Francisco Bay
area; I really do understand the problem!!
It gets tiresome to have to hang in and keep repeating the same truths
over and over; however, it is necessary to combat the lies, which are
repeated over and over.
Those of us who care about the future of our children and our
community will continue to voice our support for the eradication of
marijuana and the acceptance of any and all funds offered to help in the
battle. However, the Council does need protection from lawsuits.
