RESOLUTION NO. 270 00
KONA COASTVIEW AND KONA WONDERVIEW SUBDIVISIONS
COUNCIL INITIATED IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT •
The Department of Water Supply, of the County of Hawaii, supports Resolution No. 270 00 which
relates to a Council initiated improvement district to facilitate construction of permanent improvements
to the Kona Coastview and Kona Wonderview Subdivisions in North Kona, including the
improvements of the water distribution system to Department of Water Supply's standards in
accordance with the Hawaii County Code relating to improvements by assessments.
Many meetings with the residents of the two subdivisions were held to find a mutually agreeable way
to address the improvements of their water distribution system. The combination of the USDA's Rural
Utilities Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program and the Improvement District process of
assessments were a result of discussions at these meetings. The residents overwhelmingly supported
this concept as an acceptable way to finance the much - needed improvements to their water distribution
system.
The Department of Water Supply looks forward to working with the residents of the Kona Coastview
and Wonderview Subdivisions, the County and USDA in this unique partnership to facilitate water
system improvements for the subdivisions. We therefore request and appreciate your support of
Resolution No. 270 00.
